Nicole, 51, got a ton of backlash when she was photographed kissing the married director while on vacation in Italy in July. She initially dismissed their smooch as just a “friendly hello” between “family friends” before owning up to her mistake.

Without going into the entire situation, I want to apologize to my family, and to [Antoine’s wife] Lela [Rochon] and to the Fuqua family for what transpired. It was not my intention to be in this situation. I do not condone women kissing or interacting in anyway inappropriately with a married man. I too was once married and I would never intentionally undermine another woman, despite what has been written,” she said in a statement.

She followed up her apology during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, September 24. “It happened. It was a moment that should not have happened. I regret it and I apologized for it and I’m a human being,” she told the TV host. She also issued a warning to women everywhere and encouraged them to look into a potential romantic partner’s background. “Basically women this can happen to you! Do your research!” she added.

Nicole also refuted the reports that she hooked up with LisaRaye McCoy‘s husband Michael Misick during the time the two were married. “It says I broke up someone’s marriage, which is absolutely false. I never did that,” she insisted. “You are talking about when LisaRaye got involved and said you slept with her husband?” Wendy, 56, clarified. “It’s not true,” Nicole fired back.

Meanwhile, Lela quietly returned to social media in early September after deactivating her accounts following her husband’s betrayal. The Waiting To Exhale star shared a series of posts from her European vacation, and she also helped Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie celebrate their 60th birthdays in St. Tropez while overseas with pals Angela Bassett, Holly Robinson Peete and others.
