Nick paid the lady and can now can breathe easier — a lawsuit claiming the rapper harassed and threatened the woman who accused Nicki’s husband of sexual assault has been dropped … and Nicki’s planning to go after the woman to recoup money lost in legal fees.
According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the lawsuit against Nicki was voluntarily dismissed Wednesday by Jennifer Hough. A source close to the case tells us there was not any sort of financial settlement reached to make it go away. Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, remains a defendant.
In a blistering response, Nicki’s attorney, Judd Burstein, tells TMZ Jennifer and her lawyers thought they could shake Nicki down for some easy money, trying to financially settle it from the beginning.
We’ve seen an email Burstein sent to Hugh’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, which reads, in part, “In my view, your conduct in pursuing this case against Nicki represents the worst of our legal system: bottom-feeding lawyers who pursue frivolous actions against a celebrity assuming that they will be paid off if they throw enough dirt.”
Judd continues, “You forced my client to spend over $300,000 in fees to defend a case which even my labradoodle, Gracie, could see was frivolous on both the facts and the law.”
Nick Van Dyke is calling the woman accusing her and her husband of harassment a bold-faced liar — claiming there are holes in her story that NM and co. believe totally discredit her.
The rapper’s attorney filed legal docs, responding to Jennifer Hough‘s lawsuit from August — where she claimed Nicki, Kenneth Petty and a gaggle of lawyers were on her case … trying to get her to recant her attempted rape claim against Ken … which she made in the ’90s and for which KP was convicted.
Nick’s legal team is calling BS on Hough’s allegations, going so far as to ask the court to sanction her for what they say are blatant falsehoods, which they think she hurled in an attempt to score a payday from Nicki.
The crux of their argument lies in a couple different inconsistencies they say lie within Hough’s account of things — namely, her claiming she had to change her phone number due to the alleged harassment she was receiving from Nicki, plus the claim Nicki’s team had reached out to her brother with a $500k offer if she recanted in a written statement.
On the phone issue ..,. Nicki’s attorney says Hough actually texted Nicki after claiming she needed to change her number and move back in June 2020 to block Nicki and her people from contacting her. Nicki says the text read “US Marshalls are asking questions!!!” The lawyer draws a conclusion from this — Hough wasn’t actually trying to hide her number from Nicki at all (contrary to what she alleges). Nicki’s team thinks it makes it clear she wasn’t scared and is just looking for a payday.
There’s also the issue of an interview Hough gave earlier this year, which the attorney says differs from what she alleged in court docs. In the interview, NM’s lawyer says Hough noted her brother told her somebody had reached out with a $500k offer if she talked to a lawyer repping Petty. NM’s lawyer said the allegation in the lawsuit that Nicki was behind the offer is merely speculation that gave her a reason to try to sue Nicki.
Word On The Curb..Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty’s harassment and witness intimidation case just took a pretty crazy turn.
Jennifer Hough, whom Petty was convicted of sexually assaulting in 1995, is suing Nicki and Kenneth for for allegedly trying to force her to recant her 25 year old rape allegations. Jennifer’s lawyer recently requested a $20 million default judgment in her witness intimidation case against the couple after they failed to respond to her lawsuit.
No Jennifer;’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, is telling the media that he received an email Thursday night from attorney Judd Burstein on Minaj’s behalf—in which he requested that Blackburn withdraw the petition and grant an extension to respond.
But Jennifer’s lawyer is not withdrawing his default judgment petition, an the expects to have a judge decide whether Nicki should pay the full judgment immediately.
“I said NO!” Blackburn told The Daily Beast in an email. “I told him to prepare his opposition to my request for default judgment and explain to the court why his client and her husband believe they’re both above the law.”
Nicki;s husband Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 and denied the charges at the time
Word On The Curb..Nick Van Dyke is on the verge of being cancelled – just days after she made explosive claims about her coronavirus vaccine hesitancy.
Today The Real interviewed a woman who was victimized by Nicki’s husband Kenneth Petty – 20 years ago. Following that, Kenneth was charged with rape, and served almost 5 years in prison for his crime.
Now – 20 years later – the woman is filing a lawsuit against Nicki and Kenneth, claiming harassment
While many people side with the accuser, there are some fans of Nicki’s who feel that the media is bringing up this old case as a way of cancelling her after she publicly questioned the safety of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Nicki’s reason for her skepticism of the vaccine’s safety has drawn the ire of the federal government, and members of Joe Biden’s administration.
Nicki Minaj‘s husband, Kenneth Petty, says having his name on New York’s Sex Offender Registry has caused him a lot of problems, and the worst part is he never got his day in court to challenge it … according to new legal docs.
Petty’s suing the State of New York and its Criminal Justice Services division to have his name removed from the sex offender’s registry, because he claims he never got notice of a hearing about it back in October 2004 while he was incarcerated.
According to the legal docs, the hearing offered an opportunity to challenge the risk level assigned to him — he was categorized as a level 2 sex offender at the time — but problem is, Petty claims he never actually got notice of it.
Petty claims the notice of the hearing was sent to an address where he didn’t live — because he was in prison at the time — and alleges the “Kenny Petty” signature on the bottom is a forgery.
Petty claims whoever did it also answered that he would not be attending the hearing. So, according to the new suit, Petty claims he never got his constitutional right to due process to challenge the risk level assigned to him.
Because of this, Petty claims he’s suffered humiliation and financial loss — as well as being arrested last year for failing to register as a sex offender — and he now wants his name removed from NY’s sex offenders list.
Fans are speculating that Nicki Minaj is starting to publicly distance herself from her husband of two years, Kenneth Petty, after the ‘Chun-Li’ rapper made a major change to her Twitter account. Shortly before Minaj confirmed she and Petty tied the knot back in 2019, she changed her Twitter name to Mrs. Petty. At some point over the past few days, Minaj changed her social media name back to her stage name.
While Minaj has not publicly commented on the change, some fans are connecting the dots to Petty’s recent court case. Petty reached a plea deal with the state of California after he failed to register as a sex offender. After being charged with attempted rape in 1995, Petty is now required by law to register as a sex offender wherever he moves.
Other fans, however, speculate this change has nothing to do with Minaj’s marriage. Instead, they believe this change to her Twitter account could signify new music is on the way.
Nick last shared a photo with her husband to Instagram in early June. The couple shares one child together, a son born in September 2020.
Safaree wants no parts of questions regarding his ex Nick Van Dyke
Samuels recently appeared as a guest on his “No Love Just Floppers ” Yung Joc’s radio where he was asked various questions about his life. But when the conversation turned to his ex, Nicki Minaj, who is currently one of the most famous female rappers in the industry, Samuels opted for a quick and harmless response.
Samuels was asked if he’s ever listened to one of Minaj’s songs while being intimate with another woman. The new father of two expressed his dissatisfaction with the question by saying, “that’s not a good question.” But Samuels ended the question about his former girlfriend of over a decade on a positive note. He said, “That woman is married with a brand new baby…God Bless, ok!”
But the fans cared less about Samuels’ mature response and instead snubbed him for not treating his soon-to-be ex-wife and mother of his children, Erica Mena, with the same respect. One person said, “Not him respecting Nicki marriage and not his own 🥴. Someone else wrote, “so you respect nicki enough bc she’s married and has a baby but can’t do the same for his own wife and new baby.”
But at least one fan did show Samuels some support for his decision. That person wrote, “Good answer , you’re growing up👍🏾”
On Monday, the new mom kicked off a new era, posting a picture for the first time in months and hinting that she could have something happening at the end of the week. The Barbz have been going crazy trying to figure out what might be happening on Friday and now, they’ve seemingly got some new lyrics they can use as their upcoming social media captions.
“Btchs act like they want action, heard they want action, btch we aint duckin no action,” she wrote. “I’m bout to giv’em dat traction, send a distraction— then ima line’em like FRACTIONS. F R I D A Y.”
