Serena Williams crossed a major threshold this past weekend. The celebrity mom won her first title since having her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, three years ago.
“It’s pretty satisfying just to get a win in the final,” Serena toldmediaafter winning the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand. “That was really important for me, and I just want to build on it,” the celebrity mom added. “It’s just a step towards the next goal,” Serena said.
Serena Williams gave birth to her daughter on September 1, 2017. The celebrity mom won the Australian Open several months prior to welcoming her daughter. Serena has experienced a sort of drought in her title wins ever since.
The celebrity mom was vying for her twenty-fourth Grand Slam title last year but lost to up-and-coming star Naomi Osaki of Japan. Some suggested Serena hang up her tennis racket and retire. Williams, however, knew of her capabilities and persevered until she gained the victory that she knew she could grasp.
“You have to be your biggest cheerleader,” Serena recently told the press this past weekend. “Especially if you’re feeling you’re not doing everything right — or even if you are doing everything right but things aren’t working out for you,” she added
Alexis Olympia is Serena Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian Sr.’s only child. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
