Just a few months after it was announced thatSteve Harveywould be losing his daytime talk show “Steve,” he already has a new show coming.
The name and details haven’t been revealed yet, but Harvey gave a tease on his Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages. He also said it’s going to be a comedy competition show.
I’m looking for the next BIG comedian!” wrote Harvey on social media Sunday. “If you are IT or know someone who is funny as hell tag them now ??? Stay tuned for my comedy competition announcement on October 8! Here’s your chance to be in the spotlight.”
Earlier this year, word came that “Steve” would bereplacedby a talk show hosted by the “American Idol” winnerKelly Clarkson, which is currently on air. It was a decision that was blasted by Harvey, who said he learned of it through the media.
Harvey was also replaced byMelissa McCarthyas host of the NBC show “Little Big Shots” earlier this year.
“I’m an honorable guy, and I’m just an old school guy, and I just thought that you’re supposed to talk to people and go, ‘Look, you’ve been good business for us. This is what we’re thinking of doing. Are you OK with that?’” he said in January at the Variety Entertainment Summit. “No, you don’t just put something in the paper and say, ‘I’m gonna make this move right here,’ because it’s crazy.”Many showed immediate interest in Harvey’s new comedy show, and some asked the 62-year-old to give them their big break. Others, meanwhile, suggested people they thought were funny.
“Give me a shot,” wrote a fan.
And one person laid out exactly why she wants to be on the show, and it has to do with fulfilling a longtime dream.
“I’m good at making people laugh even if I have to let them think,” that person wrote. “I’m the butt of the joke just to make them ?I can even make people [laugh] at a bus stop after getting off of work too.”
“I have always wanted to be a comedian,” the single mom added. “I have been praying to God to find a way to get My big chance to become what I have always wanted to be. Thank you Mr.Harvey, If you pick me.”
