40 Yr Old Singer Ashanti ‘Struggle’ Twerked At Concert!!
R&B singer Ashanti is undeniably gorgeous, and her concerts are always full of energy.
But some fans are criticizing the 40 year old singer – over her Las Vegas performance last night. The fans are saying that Ashanti’s twerking was a little . . . STRUGGLE.
Now, to be fair Ashanti was never known for her dance moves, but it appears that Ashanti who is only 40 is struggling to move her body on stage – especially in a sexy fashion. Kind of sad.
Luckily for Ashanti her body looked great, and the vocals were too.
Ashanti became the hottest R&B act of 2002 when her debut album, Ashanti, broke sales records for female recording artists, and three of its singles landed on the Top 10 charts simultaneously.
The Long Island native had only recently graduated from high school when she first landed on the charts in 2001 with her vocals on the Big Punisher rap song “How We Roll.” Contributions on the tracks of other stars from her record label, Murder Inc., pushed her star higher, culminating with the release of Ashanti.
That album earned the singer/songwriter two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, eight Billboard Awards, and a Grammy. Her second album, Chapter II, released in the summer of 2003, also sold millions of units.
According to Madame Noire, “We’re living in an era where nostalgia makes quite a bit of money. It’s the reason for all the reboots and remakes. It also explains why so many artists from the 2000s have been able to tour again. Bad Boy, So-So Def, and B2K have gotten a piece of the action. And now, it seems that Murder Inc. also wants some of the pie.”
But like the rest of these groups, tensions from the past might keep a few people from making this money. And not just tensions, entire relationships that went sour.
In a recent episode of “Growing Up Hip Hop,” Murder Inc. CEO and co-founder Irv Gotti sat down with his children and ex-wife Deb Lorenzo to talk about his concerns reuniting with old group members, specifically Ashanti.
